A redesigned website with purpose
d.light is the leading pioneer of delivering affordable solar-powered solutions to off-grid communities in the developing world. The company has improved the lives of over 90 million people across 62 countries, with approximately 20 million products sold worldwide.
The San Francisco-based technology company reached out to Baunfire to elevate their online presence in order to drive traffic and conversion. Their ask: build an all-new flagship website that would better position the brand as a human-centered, forward-thinking organization.
Humanizing solar technology
When developing the new visual language, it was key for each element to capture d.light’s mission — to create a brighter future by making clean energy products universally available and affordable. To embody this, we designed a simple, warm, and inviting aesthetic, characterized by compelling lifestyle imagery and approachable typography.
Moments of surprise and delight
To better engage users, we leveraged impactful animations and microinteractions throughout the website, particularly on the product pages. We combined rich product photography and purposeful whitespace to tell a more effective product story. With a clean, open layout and clear call-to-actions, we created a simplified path to purchase.
We created custom illustrations in order to better communicate the company’s positive global impact and provide a sophisticated online experience to potential customers.
A custom icon set was developed to better demonstrate the features for each product.
